Anna Maria qualifying begins

Qualifying began Aug. 15 for three city commission seats in Anna Maria.

The qualifying period will close at noon Aug. 26 in Anna Maria.

Seats held by John Quam, Dale Woodland and Gene Aubry are up for re-election in November. Quam and Woodland already have declared their candidacy; Aubry will not run again.

Qualifying for three commission seats in Holmes Beach and the mayoral post and two commission seats in Bradenton Beach begins at noon Aug. 29 and closes at noon Sept. 2.

Holmes Beach Commissioners Al Robinson, David Zaccagnino and Pat Morton plan to run again.

Bradenton Beach Commissioner Gay Breuler also plans to seek re-election, but Commissioner Janie Robertson cannot due to term limits imposed by the city charter.

Bradenton Beach Mayor Bob Bartelt has not announced his plans.

All of the Island offices are two-year terms.
