Beach disturbance results in arrests

A fight at Coquina Beach resulted in the arrest of three men for disorderly conduct.

The incident took place at about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at Coquina Beach, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit.

A Bradenton Beach Police Department officer was dispatched to the beach parking lot where anonymous callers to 911 had reported a large group of people, some of them fighting.

The 911 report indicated that someone in the group had fired gunshots into the air in a failed attempt to quiet the fight.

When the BBPD officer arrived, he saw a large group and a scuffle taking place.

With the report of gunshots, the officer stepped out of his patrol vehicle carrying his rifle.

He stated, in the report, that several people approached him to explain what had happened.

The officer took three men into custody. All were angry and yelling profanity, according to the report.

With numerous witness statements, the officer arrested a 24-year-old man from Sarasota, a 22-year-old man from Port Charlotte and a 23-year-old man from North Port.
