The case of a man who allegedly broke into a Bradenton Beach home in May and left his name with the victim has pushed through the judicial system.
Assistant State Attorney Daniel Ley filed an administrative dismissal of the charge against Stephen Brett Cook, who listed Valrico and Gainesville addresses in court documents.
In the Nov. 9 court paper, Ley stated Cook successfully completed a pretrial intervention program and filed an administrative dismissal.
Cook was initially charged with felony criminal mischief for more than $1,000 in damages after he was found inside a home by a resident. A glass door was shattered and Cook apparently told the resident he and his friends broke the door.
In September, the state reduced the criminal mischief charge to a misdemeanor.
Cook entered into a deferred prosecution agreement in October with the 12th Circuit Court State Attorney’s Office, initially setting aside prosecution for a 90-day probation.
The agreement included Cook’s promise to provide 25 hours of community service, pay $100 to the Bradenton Beach Police Department and pay $55 a month for the cost of probation and not to violate the law.
