Jennifer Henson (Chapman) Murdoch
Jennifer Henson (Chapman) Murdoch, 47, of Anna Maria Island, died Oct. 12 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept.15,1964, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She moved to Anna Maria Island after graduating Angola (Indiana) High School in 1982. Her interests included protecting animals, the environment and the beach, sharks and horses and spending time with friends and family.
She was employed as a bartender at the Rod & Reel Pier, Anna Maria.
Friends and colleagues raised more than $5,000 for her fight against breast cancer in August 2009, with a party and concert at D.Coy Ducks, Holmes Beach, featuring Mark Pelham of Bootleg and “Koko” Ray Hansen.
She was married five months ago to Peter Smith Murdoch.
A service and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Unity Church in the Woods, 4200 32nd St. W., Bradenton. The service will be followed by a gathering at the Rod & Reel Pier.
Mrs. Murdoch is survived by husband Peter Smith; mother Rae Ann Chapman, grandparents James F. and Phyllis Chapman Jr.; aunts Rebecca Cauffman and Janeen Slos; uncles James F. Chapman III and Randy Chapman; and many cousins and friends.
Lezlie Jean Davis
Lezlie Jean Davis, 49, of Bradenton and formerly of Anna Maria Island, died Oct. 10.
A celebration of her life will be held in Indiana during the holidays and in Florida in the spring. Arrangements were by Griffith-Cline Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis is survived by brother H. Michael Davis of Indiana and caregiver Dale Miller of Bradenton.
Betty E. Haynes
Betty E. Haynes, 79, of Bradenton, died Oct. 6. She was born a leap year baby on Feb. 29, 1932, in Celina, Ohio.
Mrs. Haynes retired as a real estate broker in Fort Wayne, Ind. She moved to Bradenton Beach in 1983, where she was an entrepreneur business owner of an ice cream and candy shop on Bridge Street.

Mrs. Haynes is survived by five generations, including her mother, Florence Moore of Bradenton; brother Clearance Robert Brown of Okeechobee; daughters Cherie Guillory of Palmetto, Jeannette Siler and Crystal Ludden Culver, both of Bradenton; son, Damon and wife Carolyn Leggett of Fort Wayne; grandchildren Sheila Richmond, Steven Kauffman, Angela Brewer, Michael Leggett, Kevin Smith, Curtis Smith, Jeffery Stahl, Tiffany Stahl, Errin Ludden, and Ashley Ludden; and 17 great-grandchildren
Robyn Helton
Robyn Helton, 48, Anna Maria, died Oct. 9, following a battle with cancer. She was born in Beaver Creek, Ohio, and spent summers in West Liberty, Ky., on the family farm.
She was a regional sales manager of Precor fitness equipment and traveled and worked throughout the United States. She was an athlete, with abilities to play and teach any sport.
At her request, no service will be held. She requested that friends and family go out, have a good time and play.
A private burial will be conducted in West Liberty, Ky. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota FL 34238.
Ms. Helton is survived by her life partner of 20 years, Cheryl Wilson; parents Windel and Jewel Helton; brother Robert Helton; and nieces, great nieces, aunts and uncles.
Blaine Alan Markee
Dr. Blaine Alan Markee, 51, of Tampa and Anna Maria, died Oct. 8. He was born and raised in Medford, Ore.
He received his doctorate degree from the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He was serving as chief of orthopedics at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital, VA Medical Center, Tampa and as clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
He was dedicated to the veterans he treated with tireless care.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 13 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Ste. 300, Jacksonville FL 32256 or woundedwarriorproject.org. Adams & Jennings Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Markee is survived by wife Shelly; children Taylor and Thomas; brother Brian K.; sister Grier Gaffney; and many other loving family and friends.
