Construction on State Road 64/Manatee Avenue from east of the Harbour Isle entrance to Bristol Bay Drive will continue this week.
The Florida Department of Transportation project includes resurfacing of SR 64 at the Perico Boulevard intersection and installation of new curbs and gutters, sidewalks/bike paths, drainage improvements and widening of the road at that location.
Crews will be working primarily between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., but some daytime activity is expected, a DOT press release stated. A flagging operation will be present at night, and motorists should expect minor delays.
The project is scheduled to finish by the end of 2011, the DOT said.
In Holmes Beach, construction of a new sidewalk from Gulf Drive to State Road 789/East Bay Drive and from 31st Street to State Road 64/Manatee Avenue is under way.
The DOT said motorists could expect occasional lane closures on East Bay Drive and Manatee Avenue in the construction area, which is expected to finish in January 2012.
Flaggers will be present to direct motorists and pedestrians should plan alternate routes during construction.
In Anna Maria, the North Shore Drive-Palm Avenue intersection remains closed as Manatee County Utilities install new sewer lines. The project is expected to finish in early December.
Detour signs are posted.
In Cortez, the eastbound outside lane of State Road 684/Cortez Road at the 115th Street intersection will be closed occasionally from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Nov. 16. Manatee County crews will be installing a new fire hydrant, the DOT said.
The project should finish by Friday, Nov. 18.
The DOT also announced that the Florida Highway Patrol has a Click-it or Ticket campaign Nov. 14-21. FHP officers will be targeting drivers and passengers not wearing a seatbelt, the DOT said.
