Two neighbors on the same block in Holmes Beach had their cars broken into on the same night.
And in the first of two vehicle burglaries reported to police Sept. 21, the burglar left a strange calling card — a green Nike T-shirt on the driver’s seat.
Two vehicles parked at separate residences overnight in the 200 block of South Harbor Drive were burglarized Sept. 20-Sept. 21. In both cases, the vehicles were unlocked.
In the first burglary, reported at 9:50 a.m., a checkbook, tools and a pair of brown Costa Del Mar sunglasses, all valued at $2,550, were stolen from a Ross Built Construction truck parked in a residential carport.
The tools listed as missing were a Hiltite impact drill, Bosch blue hammer drill, a Bosch jigsaw, a fast-load framing nailer, a Porter-Cable compressor, a green Makita circular saw and a red Milwaukee Sawzall.
In the second burglary called into police at about 2:45 p.m., an unknown person entered a Lexus and removed two passports — one belonging to the complainant and the other to a 1-year-old — and a spare key to the vehicle.
Police dusted for fingerprints and found several sets in the first incident, but could not recover evidence from the second scene.
The HBPD investigation continues.
