Cortez
Dec. 6, 4000 block of 129th Court W., domestic battery. A couple’s argument in a parking lot turned physical when a man hit the woman’s vehicle and then the woman. U.S. Coast Guard employees observed the altercation, including a child being taken in and out of a car seat, and intervened. The man left the area. He was arrested by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 16 and booked into jail. He was released on a $1,000 bond, no contact order with the victim and a given a court date for a misdemeanor arraignment.
Dec. 15, 11703 40th Ave., criminal mischief. An unknown person entered Manatee Fruit Company and broke several light bulbs.
Dec. 19, 4400 block of 119th Street West, battery. Two men fought at a homeless camp. Each told the responding deputies the other had started the fight and signed waivers of prosecution.

Dec. 17, 7300 block of Palm Drive, possession of marijuana. After stopping a speeding motorist, police arrested a man for possession of 4.9 grams of marijuana found in his center console.
