A motorist driving erratically in Bradenton Beach was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and ticketed for failing to maintain a single lane.
Anthony Dionise, 54, of Grand Haven, Michigan, was stopped Nov. 26 at 700 Gulf Drive North by the Bradenton Beach Police Department.
An officer had observed his vehicle cross the center line several times and, at the 2300 block “S” curve, travel entirely in the wrong lane, while driving southbound on Gulf Drive North.
Police also observe the vehicle rapidly accelerate and de-accelerate.
The BBPD called in a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy who administered field sobriety tests and determined Dionise was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Dionise told law enforcement officers he had taken sleep medication earlier, and he fell asleep during the DUI intake process. A blood test was administered.
Dionise was booked into the Manatee County jail, posted $500 cash bond and was released. He pleaded not guilty Dec. 4.
His arraignment is set for 8:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
