Dolores F. ‘Laurie’ Busard
Dolores F. “Laurie” Busard, 91, of Bradenton, died Jan. 19.
She was born July 25, 1923, in Grand Haven, Michigan. She went to Muskegon Junior College and graduated in 1945 from Michigan State University. After teaching a year, she married Thomas R. Busard of Muskegon, Michigan, in 1946.
Mrs. Busard worked to earn her master’s degree through the University of Michigan and developed the “Great Books” courses for young school children.
In 1973, the family moved to Bradenton, where Mrs. Busard was president of the Manatee County Medical Auxiliary and later held state officer positions in the Florida Medical Association Auxiliary. She was an active member and served as board member and president of the local PEO Sorority and served as a state representative for PEO.
She was also an early participant in the Guardian Ad Litem legal program.
A memorial service was held at the Shannon Funeral Home Chapel in Bradenton. Memorial donations may be made to Roser Memorial Community Church, PO Box 2419, Anna Maria, FL 34126.
Mrs. Busard is survived by her husband, Thomas R.; three daughters, Gillian of Longboat Key, Patti of Sarasota and Bobbi of Ann Arbor; granddaughters Whitney Britton and Katie Thompson; and nephews Andrew and Kurt.
Peter Camboni
Peter Camboni, 87, of the Chicago area, died Dec. 30.
Mr. Camboni was a visitor and past resident of Anna Maria Island since 1959.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; children Gary, Connie, Lori, Ric and Toni; grandchildren Nicole, Lauren, Joseph P. and Christina; and great-grandchild Johnathan.
Anthony C Galanopoulos
Anthony C Galanopoulos, 44, of Holmes Beach, died Jan. 9.
A celebration of life will be held in McHenry, Illinois.
Survivors include son, Zachary; mother, Christine; and sister, Cassandra.
George ‘Pop’ Hawley
George “Pop” Hawley, 102, formerly of Bradenton Beach, died Jan. 8 at Sonny Bower Adult Care Center.
He was born Sept. 16, 1912, in Boston.
Living on his own by working odd jobs since he was 14, Hawley found joy in serving his country during World War II as a hand radio operator in Hawaii. Following his service, he met his first wife, Louise Wallen and followed her to Racine, Wisconsin, where they raised three children. During this time, he worked as a retail salesman.
After the death of his first wife, Mr. Hawley moved to Bradenton Beach, where he met his second wife, Doris, whom he married in 1992.
Mr. Hawley was dedicated to the Catholic Church, his family, his friends and the Boston Red Sox. In addition, one of his main passions in life was music and dancing.
A memorial service was held Jan. 24 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach. Donations may be sent to the Sunny Bower Adult Care Center, 1604 71st St. NW, Bradenton, FL 34209.
Survivors include his three children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and caretakers Wayne and Joan Lensert, among other family and friends.
Richard George “Ricky” Martin
Richard George “Ricky” Martin, 59, of Bradenton, died Jan. 14.
Mr. Martin was born Dec. 31, 1955, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a lance corporal and assigned as a maintenance administrative clerk who received the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge in 1974 and Rifle Marksman Badge in 1975 and 1976.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria.
Survivors include mother Jane Grossman and stepfather Marvin Grossman of Holmes Beach; sisters Shelly Hill and husband Dan of Bradenton and Nicole Skaggs and husband David, also of Bradenton.
Sarah Anne Ware
Sarah Anne Ware, 81, of Bradenton, died Jan. 20.
She was born in Bradford, Ontario, Canada, and had wintered on Anna Maria Island since 1993 from Jacksonville, Illinois.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville and she was a part-time volunteer at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota.
She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, reader, bridge player and crossword enthusiast.
A service was held Jan. 22 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Mote Marine or First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville.

She is survived by husband Richard “Dick” of Bradenton; son William Woodrum and wife Maureen of Chatham, Illinois; stepsons David Woodrum and wife Susan of Seattle, Richard Woodrum and his wife Elaine of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, James R. and wife Leslie of Jacksonville and Holmes Beach; stepdaughter Vickie Brooks and husband Danny of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
