Bradenton Beach Mayor Bill Shearon will propose at the commission’s March 5 meeting a “global settlement” of four lawsuits that have been raising tension at city hall, one for nearly three years.
- Tjet Martin and Jo Anne Meilner v. City of Bradenton Beach, filed in 2012 in opposition to the parking lot construction on both the Beachhouse Restaurant and city-owned property.
- The ELRA (Ed Chiles) v. Mayor of Bradenton Beach lawsuit claiming the mayor over-extended his authority.
- A Martin lawsuit filed against the city for failure to comply with a public records request and what Martin claims were exhorbitant fees for compliance.
- Shearon’s lawsuit against the city seeking to halt his suspension from office during the ongoing forfeiture process brought against him by Vice Mayor Jack Clarke.
Shearon said Feb. 26 that he and the contracted city attorney, Chuck Johnson of the Bradenton-based Blalock Walters law firm, will make the March 5 presentation.
“These four issues, some of them have been ongoing for years,” Shearon said.
Well let’s see if this will rectify the non stop harassment from inside CIty Hall (commissioner), a local businessmans attorney, the Sunshine Law violator ambulance chaser attorney, City personnel (i.e public works), people at the right hand of the Mayor, a writer from the tabloid paper with an agenda all his own, damn the list goes on and on. It would be nice if the Mayor got the appropriate credit for the City being on firmer fiscal ground because of his recommendation of hiring a City treasurer when he was elected. All the Mayor and his partner have done is work for a better Bradenton Beach and all they have gotten is non stop harassment since the day he was sworn in as Mayor. What have you done Jack Clarke to ensure the City of Bradenton Beach is more fiscally responsible with the people of Bradenton Beaches tax dollars? Oh wait…..all you have done is keep the some Attorney’s pockets lined with taxpayer dollars.
All the jockeying for political favors, and the arrogance that these people towards the citizens they are supposed is disgraceful. Variances that do harm to the community are wrong. Cheating, lying by omission, twisted truths, and underhanded manueverings, are wrong. All show the basic lack of character and honesty that we try to teach our children.
First, choose laws that protect our community.
Second, pass single term service for all elected officials.
Third, READ the city bylaws BEFORE trying to impeach a council member.
Fourth, make it easier and more straight to do so.
(someone) failed reading in grade school. It’s why (he/she) has trouble interpreting what the City charter states about what qualifies for forfeiture of office.
