A live-in Holmes Beach caregiver has been arrested for theft and violating probation.
Kelly Jo Keiter, 47, was arrested April 17 at Kmart in Ellenton after a loss prevention officer observed her taking clothes, concealing them in her purse and walking out without paying, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office probable cause report.
It was Keiter’s fourth theft offense since 2009, according to the report. Keiter was on probation for driving with a suspended license.
At her first court appearance, a public defender was appointed and a $1,500 bond set.
At press time for The Islander, Keiter was in custody at the Manatee County jail.
Her arraignment is set for May 22 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave., Bradenton.
