A 27-year-old woman who took her bathing suit top off and exhibited herself at a Holmes Beach cafe was fined after pleading no contest in the 12th Judicial Circuit Court.
Judge Douglas Henderson withheld adjudication for Jaclynn Glover of Valrico on a disorderly conduct charge and fined her $419.
Holmes Beach police originally arrested Glover for disorderly conduct and lewd and lascivious exhibition at the Anna Maria Island Beach Cafe at Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive.
HBPD arrested Glover in March after witnesses told police she’d removed her bathing suit top, tugged on a nipple ring, bared and fondled her breasts, walked through the restaurant and sat down. At least one child was present.
According to a June 23 memo written by Assistant State Attorney Dickey Hough, a lifeguard told the prosecutor’s office he saw the defendant with her top off, heard her vulgar language and had been contacted by the minor victim’s mother.
The memo also stated the minor victim’s mother did not return the state attorney’s office calls for information.
The state attorney office decided June 25 to drop the felony exhibition charge due to insufficient evidence.
Glover had been assigned a court-appointed public defender who, on June 30, filed a not-guilty plea.
On July 9, Glover waived her rights to an attorney and trial and changed her plea.
The judge found Glover indigent and ordered her to pay her fine on a payment plan — $25 a month.
