An allegedly impaired motorist on Gulf Drive North in Bradenton Beach told law enforcement a car pulled in front of him after he’d left the bar he manages.
Eric Fleishman, 32, of Bradenton Beach, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Oct. 4 for driving under the influence with damage to property and knowingly operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Assisting Bradenton Beach Police Officer Eric Hill in the 600 block of Gulf Drive North, Manatee County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Tate first contacted Fleishman where he stood in a parking lot next to his vehicle, which was missing a front tire after the crash.
The deputy reported Fleishman’s eyes were red and watery and he smelled alcohol on his breath, according to the MCSO report.
Fleishman allegedly told the deputy he’d been drinking at a bar where he works.
After Fleishman failed field sobriety tests, he identified himself with a New York driver’s license but Tate determined the suspect had surrendered the New York license and obtained a Florida driver’s license, which had been suspended since March 2012.
Fleishman was transported to the Manatee County jail. There, he provided two breath tests, measuring 0.208 and 0.215 blood-alcohol content. The legal limit is 0.08.
He posted $500 bond and was released.
Fleishman’s court arraignment is set for Nov. 4 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
