A Bradenton man who said he had two beers at a bar was arrested for allegedly driving impaired in Holmes Beach.
While conducting radar early Oct. 17, Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores observed a motorist speeding, alternately accelerating and decelerating in the 5200 block of Gulf Drive, according to a HBPD report.
Upon stopping the driver, Christopher M. Phillips, 29, in the 700 block of Manatee Avenue, Bores allegedly noticed an odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and a Budweiser beer under the driver’s seat.
Phillips allegedly had difficulty finding his insurance and registration and advised the officer it was his mother’s vehicle.
He also told the officer he had “two beers at D.Coy Ducks,” a tavern in Holmes Beach, according to the report.
Phillips was arrested for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license without knowledge. He was transported to the Manatee County jail where he allegedly refused to provide breath samples.
He posted $500 bond and was released.
Phillips’ court arraignment is set for Nov. 18 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
