Alerted by a witness who reported seeing a white Chevy crossing the center line and driving off the road, a Holmes Beach police officer arrested a Bradenton woman for driving under the influence. She also had no driver’s license.
Rosmery Gonzalez, 25, was stopped at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the Manatee Public Beach parking lot, 4000 Gulf Drive, by officers who reported the odor of alcohol and several empty Corona beer bottles in her vehicle. She also had a dog in the vehicle, according to police reports.
Gonzalez told police she did not speak English and they transported her to the Manatee County jail where a Spanish-speaking Manatee County Sheriff’s deputy assisted with a DUI investigation.
The dog in Gonzalez’ car was taken to the HBPD kennel and Manatee County Animal Services took the dog the next day. Gonzalez’ vehicle was towed.
At the jail, Gonzalez allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests and provided breath samples, measuring 0.237 and 0.229 blood-alcohol content, according to a police report. The legal limit is 0.08.
After she was booked into the jail, Gonzalez was appointed a public defender and released on her agreement not to take illegal drugs or consume alcohol.
Her arraignment is set Jan. 11, 2016, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
