A draft of the Anna Maria City Pier survey from July 2015 has reached city hall.
The estimated cost for repairs is $1.4 million-$1.7 million for the indicated work on the pier its buildings as a result of the survey.
The repairs would extend the life of the pier by 20-25 years, according to the draft report.
Anna Maria Mayor Dan Murphy said the estimate is a draft and not the final price. Murphy said he would meet with city commissioners, representatives of the city’s tenant, the City Pier Restaurant and with the engineer responsible for overseeing the survey.
Murphy said he’s hoping to see if there’s a way to lower the projected cost.
Bridge Design Associates of West Palm Beach conducted the survey, inspecting all top and bottom areas of the pier, including the underwater structure.
The pier was constructed in 1911, and has been refurbished several times.
The restaurant lease says the tenant is responsible for repairs.
