HBPD arrests Venice man for DUI

A 22-year-old man from Venice who told Holmes Beach police he was on his way home from the Sarasota dog track was arrested for driving impaired.

Blake Richman pulled into the Manatee Public Beach parking lot at 4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, at 4:37 a.m. April 17, where he stopped behind an HBPD vehicle. Officer Alan Bores approached Richman and asked if he needed assistance.

Bores noticed signs of impairment and after performing field sobriety tests, he judged Richman impaired, and took him into custody and to the Manatee County jail.

Bores searched Richman’s vehicle in connection with the arrest and found a bag of Xanax pills and a glass pipe containing marijuana residue in the center console.

Richman gave two breath samples at the jail, measuring 0.030 and 0.028 in blood-alcohol content. The legal limit is 0.08. A urine test was pending at the time of the report.

Richman posted a $2,500 bond and was released the same day.

His court arraignment is set at 9 a.m. Friday, May 20, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
