The 12th Judicial Circuit Court found a Sarasota man who allegedly stole a cellphone in Holmes Beach incompetent to stand trial.
Jarvis D. Freeman, 21, was committed May 6 to a state Department of Children and Family Services treatment facility upon the report of two court-appointed psychologists.
Police arrested Freeman after he allegedly stole a woman’s cellphone Nov. 29, 2015, at the Anna Maria Beach Cafe, 4000 Gulf Drive, and ran off. Authorities found the cell phone near the bushes in the 4500 block of Gulf Drive.
In October 2015, Freeman was convicted of stealing a boogie board in Bradenton Beach.
