A heroin and crack cocaine overdose is suspected in the death of a Cortez man found unconscious June 19 in Cortez.
Nathan Lee Barnes, 33, was discovered at his parent’s home by his mother and then taken to the hospital by EMS, but he died June 27 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
MCSO public information director Dave Bristow said toxicology tests would be performed and the medical examiner would determine the cause of death.
“Everything points to an accidental drug overdose,” Bristow said.
