A gunshot soon after 1 p.m. Oct. 22 in the 500 block of 75th Street at Marina Drive ended the life of a Holmes Beach man.
Gary Wilson, 74, was found dead of a gunshot to the head from a revolver while seated on a bench that overlooks the T-end canal after police were called to a possible suicide in progress.
Holmes Beach police were dispatched at 1:38 p.m., arrived two minutes later and found Wilson slumped over with a 38-caliber gun beside him, according to the HBPD report.
Witnesses first saw Wilson smoking a cigarette on the bench at the trolley stop. They later observed him slumped over.
Wilson, a resident in the 200 block of 76th Street in Holmes Beach, had driven a white Lincoln Navigator to the canal end. It was returned by HBPD to his family.
