Thanksgiving brings a quiet time to the Center of Anna Maria Island, 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria.
But before the short break, the adult basketball league at the center moved into the second half of its regular season, and Beach to Bay Construction is chasing a perfect, undefeated season.
At 5-0, B-to-B currently holds a two-game lead on 3-2 Harry’s Grill with 2-2 Blake Medical Center holding third place. Mike Walter & Associates and Intechgrate Systems both sport 1-4 records in fourth and fifth place.
Beach to Bay extended its lead to two games by earning a 77-67 victory over Harry’s Grill to open Nov. 22 action at the center.
Scott Eliseo scored 26 points and Matt Rossi added 25 points to lead Beach to Bay, which received 11 points from Mark Bryan and 9 points from Thomas Heald in the victory.
John Davis paced Harry’s Grill with 21 points, while Antwuan Jackson and Teagon Purtill scored 19 points each in the loss.
The second game of the evening saw Mike Walter & Associates edge Intechgrate Systems 54-50 for its first victory of the season. Thomas Gish led all scorers with 29 points to lead Mike Walter & Associates, which also received 7 points from Sam Hooker and 6 points each from Ian Hardy and Tyler Bekkerus.
Aaron Dudukes scored 23 points to lead Intechgrate Systems, which also received 13 points from Craig McDonald and 10 points from Ted Hurst in the loss.
Flag football signup ongoing
The Center of Anna Maria is accepting registrations for its youth flag football league, which is set to get started Jan. 3.
The final day to register is Dec. 9.

Key Royale golf news
Due to Thanksgiving, it also was a short week for golf action at the Key Royale Club.
The men got out for their normal Monday outing, a nine-hole, modified-Stableford system or quota-points match Nov. 21.
Steve Pheil carded a plus-4 to earn individual first-place honors with Peter Solleveld taking second with a score of plus-3.
Pheil’s score helped his team of Peter Lund, Dennis Schavey and Ron Vandeman to a score of plus-5, which earned them clubhouse bragging rights for the day.
The women took to the course Nov. 22 for their regular outing. They played a nine-hole individual-low-net game in four flights that also included a low-putts side game.
Sue Little fired a 1-under-par 31 to win Flight A, while Debbie Milder’s 12 putts earned the low total in the flight.
Heather Pritchard’s 1-under-par 31 gave her first place in Flight B. Jana Samuelson had 15 putts during her round to earn first place in the flight.
Roxanne Koche carded a 1-under-par 31 to win first place in Flight C and Barb Harold won the low-putts competition.
Janet Razze had the round of the day with a 2-under-par 30 to win Flight C with Stephanie Morris winning the flight’s low putts with 13.
Horseshoe news
Three teams emerged from pool play to battle for the day’s bragging rights during Nov. 23 horseshoe action at the Anna Maria City Hall pits.
Walker Bob Mason drew the bye into the finals and watched as Roger Nigg and Bob Palmer rolled into the final with a 23-7 beat down of Jim Kleiner and Hank Huyghe. Nigg and Palmer then edged Mason by a 21-19 score to earn bragging rights.
Three teams advanced to the knockout stage during Nov. 26 action. The team of John Crawford and Bob Lee drew the bye and watched as Karl Thomas and Mason earned a 21-14 win over Gene Bobeldyk and Bob Heiger to advance to the finals. Crawford and Lee then knocked off Thomas and Mason 21-11 to earn a trip to the winner’s circle.
Play gets underway at 9 a.m. every Wednesday and Saturday at the Anna Maria City Hall pits. Warmups begin at 8:45 a.m. followed by random team selection.There is no charge to play and everyone is welcome.
