A motorist in a white Mercedes was arrested Nov. 21 for driving under the influence after a Manatee County sheriff’s deputy stopped the vehicle in Holmes Beach.

Jeanne Brittain, 62, of Holmes Beach, was arrested for DUI in the 4400 block of Gulf Drive and ticketed for failing to drive in a single lane and for open container. Two empty wine boxes were found in a search of the vehicle.

MCSO Deputy Patrick Manning observed the Mercedes veering over the center lines and having difficulty maintaining speed in traffic. He reported the observations to Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores, who was dispatched at 7:41 p.m.

As he interviewed Brittain, Bores reported signs of impairment and asked her how much alcohol she had consumed. Brittain allegedly responded: “None at all.”

After field-sobriety tests, she was taken into custody and transported to the Manatee County jail, where her blood alcohol content measured 0.193 and 0.180, more than twice the 0.08 legal limit.

Brittain was released on a $500 bond pending an 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, arraignment at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
