HBPD arrest transferred to drug court

A 12th Circuit judge transferred the case of a Bradenton man found possessing drugs in Holmes Beach from criminal to drug court.

In October, Judge Andrew Owens ordered Justin White, 26, into the program that aims to break the cycle between drugs and crime, reduce court backlogs and keep drug addicts out of jail.

According to the HBPD report, a police officer allegedly found two Xanax pills, one Baclofen pill and a glass pipe in White’s vehicle in August, after police stopped White for speeding.

Drug court program participants waive their rights to a speedy trial, submit to drug testing, treatment and are closely monitored through mandatory court appearances.
