Two island police agencies cooperated in the arrest of a Bradenton man for running stop signs Dec. 15 in Anna Maria.
Jordan Cole Pointer, 30, was arrested for driving under the influence at 2:32 a.m. in the 800 block of North Shore Drive, Anna Maria, by Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores.
Bores responded to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy LeAna Cudzillo’s request for backup after she allegedly observed a Honda sedan running stop signs on North Shore Drive at Pine Avenue, at Pine and North Bay Boulevard and at North Shore and Alamanda Road.
According to Cudzillo’s report, Pointer did not understand he was on Anna Maria Island, telling the officer he was a block away from his Bradenton destination. She also reported an empty wine bottle on the back seat of the car.
After Bores responded, he led Pointer through field sobriety tests.
The motorist allegedly performed poorly on the roadside tests and was transported to the Manatee County jail.
Pointer provided breath samples measuring 0.147 and 0.143 blood-alcohol, according to the HBPD report. The legal BAC limit is 0.08.
In addition to the DUI, Pointer also was ticketed for expired registration and a stop sign violation.
He was released on a $500 bond.
Pointer’s court date is 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
