A boater landed on dry land in jail June 2 for boating under the influence.
Timothy Mitten, 52, of Sarasota, was arrested for BUI June 2 in his 21-foot motorboat at the Coquina Beach South Boat Ramp by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The FWC officer reported he stopped Mitten while he “was operating carelessly in violation of a posted slow speed zone” near Jewfish Key.
Before the arrest, the officer determined Mitten was impaired and inspected the vessel, the FWC report states.
Mitten refused a breath test and was transported to the Manatee County jail, where he was booked and then released on a $500 bond, according to online court records.
His arraignment is set for 8:30 a.m. July 5 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
