Palmetto man arrested in BB for intoxication, resisting arrest

An officer from the Bradenton Beach Police Department arrested Palmetto-resident Phillip Harris Oct. 31 on misdemeanor charges for disorderly intoxication in public and resisting arrest without violence.

The officer was on Bridge Street when he noticed a man in a physical altercation with another man near the Drift In, 120 Bridge St.

The officer separated the men and spoke to witnesses, who said Harris was drinking and punched the other man.

When the officer turned to Harris for questioning, Harris ran away and entered the water off Bay Drive South.

Witnesses told the officer Harris was hiding in nearby mangroves, so the officer entered the water and detained him.

Harris was transported to the BBPD for paperwork before being transported to the Manatee County jail.

Harris was released the same day after posting a $620 bond for the two charges.
