Most government offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.
Some government offices also will be closed — or will close early — Thursday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve.
Manatee County parks and preserves will be open both days but institutions, such as the Island Library in Holmes Beach, will be closed.
Meanwhile, Manatee County’s fare-free island trolley will operate as usual, as will the free beach shuttle from 75th Street West and Manatee Avenue to the Manatee Public Beach.
However, regular transit routes will not operate Jan. 1.
New Year’s Day also is a holiday for trash collection, pushing pickup to Saturday.
