Holmes Beach police officers arrested Douglas Peck, 51, of Milwaukee, March 31 on a second-degree misdemeanor charge for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The case began when an officer responded to reports of a possibly intoxicated person driving a white minivan in the Time Saver Liquor Store’s parking lot.
The officer found the motorist swerving off the road while heading north on Gulf Drive. He conducted a traffic stop and requested backup to begin a DUI investigation, according to a Holmes Beach Police Department arrest report.
Another officer arrived and had Peck complete field sobriety tests, which HBPD said he failed.
The officers arrested Peck and transported him to the HBPD, where he registered results of 0.287 and 0.271 grams of alcohol in two blood/alcohol tests.
The legal blood/alcohol content limit for driving under the influence is 0.08 in Florida.
An officer transported Peck to the Manatee County jail April 1.
Peck was released April 1 after posting $120 bond.
An arraignment will be at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
The second-degree misdemeanor charge carries varying punishments, including fines and up to nine months in prison for a first conviction.
