The Florida Department of Health-Manatee County issued a “No Swim” advisory Aug. 19 for Bayfront Park North in Anna Maria.
The advisory is for the north end of the park at 310 N. Bay Blvd. and indicates water contact may pose an increased risk of infectious diseases to humans.
The health department said samples taken from the water Aug. 16 and Aug. 18 showed an elevated level of enterococci bacteria. The advisory was to be in effect until the water meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency safety guidelines.
Other water recreation areas located in Manatee County were not under advisory.
