New chief sworn in to serve Bradenton Beach

It’s official. Police Chief John Cosby traded in the title of acting chief Oct. 11 for the real deal. Cosby was sworn in as chief of police by city clerk Terri Sanclemente at city hall with the mayor and commissioners in attendance. “I may be a little crazy for doing this,” Cosby joked after his swearing in. “We hope to continue to do good things. The city has really done a lot over the last few years and hopefully we can keep that going,” he said. Cosby succeeds Chief Sam Speciale, who retired after 35 years of service to the city.
