Unlucky boat owner’s sailboat remains on Holmes Beach shoreline

A sign advertising a GoFundMe campaign to “Help Unbeach Lucky Us 2” hangs Feb. 24 from a post supporting tape that cautions people to stay back from a beached sailboat. The boat crashed Feb. 12 onto the shores of Holmes Beach near 79th Street after its crew was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard during a storm the night before. James Golembiewski, the sailboat’s owner, told The Islander Feb. 23 that he had received several recommendations from locals for removing the boat and was considering his best options ahead of a March 7 deadline given by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
