Bradenton Beach
Nov. 4, 2000 block of Avenue C, battery. Bradenton Beach police officers were dispatched to a vacation rental. Witnesses said a man threw a drink and struck two people. The man was arrested for simple battery and transported to the Manatee County jail in Palmetto, where he was released on $5,500 bail.Cortez
Holmes Beach
Nov. 9, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, grand theft. A Holmes Beach police officer responded to the beach in reference to a theft. The complainant said he met three people the night before and they went to the beach, where his phone went missing. He said their vehicle was the only one in the parking lot. He showed a transaction using his Robinhood account to purchase $2,005 worth of Bitcoin, as well as other transactions involving two credit cards. The officer provided a case card.
Nov. 12, 100 block of 65th Street, alcohol. An officer found a vehicle parked on the wrong side of the roadway and facing against the flow of traffic in a no-parking zone. The officer found a man sleeping inside the vehicle, which had an expired registration. The officer also observed an open bottle of vodka on the passenger floorboard and a can of Twisted Tea, an alcoholic beverage. The officer woke the man, who said he had been drinking and did not want to drive intoxicated, so he slept in his vehicle. The officer issued a citation for an open alcohol container and had the man’s vehicle towed.

Very nice article about Chris Culhane and his history with the community center. I was a member when he first took a position there. Just because I moved off the island doesn’t mean that I have ever lost my love or interest in the island community! I hope Chris, with his able staff, keeps the Center going for future members and attendees!
