Winnie finishes marathon at No. 10

Winnie, Anna Maria Island’s entry in the 2025 Tour de Turtles presented by the Sea Turtle Conservancy, traveled about 307 miles in a science-focused migration marathon that concluded Oct. 31. The loggerhead, finishing in 10th place out of 12 sea turtles, was tagged with a satellite tracker in June at Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach. The Sea Turtle Conservancy’s Tour de Turtles officially began Aug. 1. Miso Speedy, a green sea turtle tagged in June at Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica, finished in first with 1,583 miles.
