Bradenton Beach

      Dec. 5, 100 block of 12th Street North, burglary. A Bradenton Beach police officer was dispatched to a residential burglary, where a complainant said he placed a pot of gumbo valued at $180 — roughly $100 worth of ingredients and an $80 bowl — into a refrigerator in the garage earlier that day. When he returned that evening, the pot was missing. Officers processed the scene, but there were no fingerprints due to moisture.

Holmes Beach

Dec. 2, 200 block of 85th Street, fraud. A man called the Holmes Beach police to report that checks for $16,000 and $63,484.16 were forged with an employee’s names but another party, not the employee, had signed the checks. The case was referred to a detective.

Dec. 2, Marquis Management Construction, 5804 Marina Drive, larceny. The company’s president told HBPD that business partners removed property and merchandise from the location while he was on vacation. He provided security footage of people trying to enter the building and people removing patio furniture. A company-branded trailer worth about $17,000 also was taken. The complainant said he contacted his partners about the situation and they notified him that the company was conducting a liquidation. The case was referred to a detective.

Dec. 7, 3200 block of East Bay Drive, battery. An HBPD officer responded to reports of battery and met with the complainant, a man who said he had been battered by two brothers-in-law. He said they both struck him and one bit him on the nose. He denied instigating the altercation and wanted to press charges. Manatee County Emergency Medical Services transported him to HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton for treatment. The officer contacted the accused, one of whom said the complainant started the altercation. The officer observed a “red mark” … “consistent with being struck.” HBPD filed a capias request to the state attorney’s office for review.
