Dec. 25, 5200 block of Gulf Drive, domestic battery. Two Holmes Beach police officers responded to reports of domestic battery and met with the caller, who pointed to a man and said he struck a woman through a vehicle window. The officers spoke with the woman, who said the man was her boyfriend. She said he had become upset when she picked him up in her vehicle and began striking her, at which point she pulled over. She said her boyfriend then exited the vehicle and began striking her through the driver-side window. She provided a statement for police. The man, who appeared intoxicated and admitted to striking her, was arrested and transported to the Manatee County jail.
Dec. 30, 600 block of Key Royale Drive, fraud. An officer responded to reports of potential fraud and met with the complainant. She told police that she gave a check for $42,000 to a contractor who completed work for her, but believed the check had been destroyed since she had paid the contractor per invoice. However, she said when she hired another contractor and tried to pay them, she learned that the check had been cashed. She contacted her bank, which told her that the check had been cashed with an altered date. The officer issued a case number to the woman and referred the case to a detective for review.
