Karen Bell, owner of Star Fish Co. Seafood Market and Dockside Restaurant and A.P. Bell Fish Co., as well as other local businesses, told The Islander Oct. 24 that the mid-month opening of the local stone crab harvest was a “terrible start.”
She said there was almost no production.

Greg Surace of Star Fish Market and Dockside Restaurant cracks fresh stone crabs for an order at the restaurant. The crab claws are served cold or hot, but due to how hard they are, they are cracked to reveal the delicate meat inside the claw and knuckle. Islander Courtesy Photos: Star/Jim Gowett
