The winner of The Islander’s Valentine’s Day contest — and the recipient of a Beach Bistro gift certificate — is Bradenton Beach resident Judith Alpert.
The newspaper issued a call to readers to write words of love in honor of Valentine’s Day.

You make my spirit joyful,
You make my worries few,
Your joy, your strength, your tender touch
All make me feel brand new.
You’re there to share the sadness,
You’re there to share the fun,
You’re there for me, my darling dear
’Cause you’re my whole-in-one!
