John Paul Deanobit-j.Dean

John Paul Dean, 81, died Oct. 26. Mr. Dean was a longtime resident of Chevy Chase and Ocean City, Maryland, and most recently of Anna Maria Island and Bradenton.

He was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Waterbury, Connecticut, and grew up in Washington, D.C.

He graduated from Wilson High School in 1951 and the University of Maryland in l958 with a degree in business administration. He served in the U.S. Army l953-55 in the Korean War.

He worked as a mortgage banker, real estate broker and real estate professional for 40 years.

Mr. Dean enjoyed the world around him and traveled far and wide over the years. He loved his newspapers and kept up with current events. He was a problem solver, an astute investor and was always willing to help any who enlisted his support. He enjoyed people and was a remarkable host, relishing friendships down the years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke.

No formal services are planned but an informal memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel in charge of arrangements. Condolences to www.brownandsonsfuneral.com.

Mr. Dean is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Rush Dean of Bradenton; daughter Karen Elizabeth of Bradenton; son John W. of Hanover, Maryland; brother Ralph B. of Nokesville, Virginia; sister Lois Dean Courtney of Chevy Chase, and numerous nieces and nephews.
