The Manatee Public Beach has been named to a list of top family beach destinations in the United States.
Family Vacation Critic, a website specializing in reviews of family-friendly vacation destinations, recently reported its annual “10 Best Beaches for Families in 2015.”
Two Florida destinations — Fort DeSoto Park in Pinellas County and the Manatee Public Beach in Holmes Beach are listed.
Brian Krol, visiting from South Bend, Indiana, said he and his family drove 20 hours to get to the sand in Holmes Beach.
“We work hard for our vacations,” Krol said. “We love it here and enjoy every minute we can get.”
Familyvacationcritic.com describes the beach as, “a classic vacation destination …on the Gulf of Mexico” at 4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach.
The public beach in Holmes Beach at the west end of Manatee Avenue on the Gulf of Mexico is a popular destination for locals and snowbirds alike. On clear, sunny days and on weekends and holidays, the beach can be packed before noon.
