Man pleads to drug charges, sentenced to county jail

A Bradenton man originally charged with intent to sell marijuana pleaded no contest to the lesser charge of possession.

Twelfth Circuit Judge Diana Moreland found Joseph Robert Flinn of Bradenton guilty June 25 and sentenced him to 360 days in county jail.

In October 2014, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Flinn inside a vehicle with 78 grams of marijuana, plastic bags and more than $1,200 in the 100 block of Spring Avenue in Anna Maria.

Flinn, now 20, faced up to five years in prison and a fine of $5,000.

Flinn was previously convicted as a juvenile for possession of marijuana, grand theft and burglaries to a dwelling and a vehicle.

Other terms of his sentence and plea include a one-year driver’s license revocation, no credit for time served and court costs.
