A Sarasota woman who fought with Holmes Beach police after leaving the scene of an accident in January was ordered to serve 15 days in jail after violating her probation — and after serving the time.
Jeanna M. Gibson, 27, was arrested by Longboat Key Police Department in July for driving on a suspended license during her 18-month probation for the HBPD arrest. She was arrested on a warrant in August.
On Sept. 15, Gibson admitted to the probation violation and 12th Circuit Judge Moreland ordered the jail time with credit for time served. Gibson was released from Manatee County jail, where she’d been held without bond.
Gibson was booked in the jail between Aug. 20 and Sept. 15, according to jail records.
Gibson had initially faced 10 years in jail on two second-degree felonies, battery to a police officer and resisting arrest with violence, as well as a misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of a crash on Key Royale in Holmes Beach.
Moreland reserved rulings on the felonies pending Gibson’s probation, which also included a substance-abuse evaluation, a one-day anger management course and costs.
As part of Gibson’s violation hearing, Moreland’s original sentence was affirmed. Gibson also was required to pay $100 for the cost of prosecution and a $100 indigency fee.
