After causing a ruckus Sept. 6 at a Bradenton Beach bar, a 31-year-old homeless man wound up punched in the face.
Bradenton Beach police were dispatched at about 9:30 p.m. to the Sports Lounge, 118 Bridge St., to a report of a man fighting and another man fleeing the scene.
Miles Anthony Hatcher allegedly fought four bar patrons with a chair, cursed at the bartender and made racial slurs before being hit and pulled outside, according to a Bradenton Beach police report.
When officers arrived, they saw a patron dragging a man from the bar to the sidewalk.
Later identified as Hatcher, the dragged man was bleeding and suffering a swollen eye. EMS was called.
According to the BBPD report, Hatcher was hostile and intoxicated.
About 10 witnesses told police Hatcher tried to fight four people at the same time, called the bartender “a whore,” and directed racial slurs at a customer, who punched Hatcher and left the bar.
BBPD Officer Jason Higgins attempted to get Hatcher’s address and telephone number while in front of the Sports Lounge, but Hatcher ran next door, asking people to take a photograph of his face.
Higgins told Hatcher to wait for EMS outside the Sports Lounge, but he failed to cooperate, swore at the officers and alleged they were “roughing him up.” An officer pulled Hatcher over to the Sports Lounge by his belt loops, according to the report.
As EMS was wheeling Hatcher to an ambulance, the report stated, the man held up his middle finger at the police.
Hatcher was treated and released two days later from Blake Medical Center.
