Depositions are planned in the case involving a Bradenton man accused in 2019 of critically injuring a Cortez man.
David Lynn Nichols, 59, was arrested Nov. 18, 2019, accused of hitting and dragging a man underneath his vehicle for nearly a block in the area of 101st Street West near Cortez.
Fred Gilliland, known in Cortez as “Fat Freddy,” suffered critical injuries and Nichols faces charges of aggravated battery with great bodily harm and leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury.
Most recently, Nichol’s attorney and the state prosecutor have posted notices for deposing witnesses in the case.
Several trial dates have been canceled over the years and no new trial date is set.
