Red tide bloom lingers

In Southwest Florida the week ending Jan. 8, the red tide organism K. brevis was observed at background to medium concentrations in Manatee and Sarasota counties, low to medium concentrations in Pinellas County, background concentrations in Charlotte and Lee counties and background to low concentrations in and offshore of Collier County.

Reports of fish kills suspected to be related to red tide were not received from Manatee County.

There also were no reports of respiratory irritation from the county.
