A fixture in one Holmes Beach front yard went missing.
Part-time Holmes Beach resident Wayne Giordano told The Islander Oct. 18 that he’s offering a $250 reward for the return of a $1,000 lighthouse sculpture taken from a property in the 200 block of 36th Street that’s used part-time as a vacation rental.
Giordano said the light-up, rotating sculpture was purchased in the Catskill Mountains in New York and has been in his family for several years.
He said a property manager last saw the sculpture in late September.
“It just disappeared,” Giordano said. “Somebody came here and very simply stole it.”
“The police cars down here say ‘Protecting Paradise.’ So, I feel paradise got a little tarnished,” he added.
He reported the theft to the Holmes Beach Police Department and reached out to neighbors.
“I can’t tell you how many memories are in this thing,” Giordano said. “We brought it down 1,800 miles. … We’ve had it for years.”
