Popcorn and Politics results

The results are in from The Islander’s unofficial Popcorn and Politics voter poll, held Oct. 19 at the newspaper’s meet-the-candidates forum.

In Anna Maria, where five candidates are seeking three seats on the city commission, Christine L. Tollette placed first with 102 votes; David R. Gryboski, second, 93 votes; and John J. Quam and Dale Woodland tied for third, 37 votes. Harry Stoltzfus placed fourth with 31 votes.

In Bradenton Beach, with the smallest number of attendees at the event, incumbent Michael Pierce received three votes and challenger William “Bill” Shearon received eight votes in the straw poll for mayor.

In Holmes Beach, where five candidates are seeking three seats on the city commission, David Zaccagnino placed first in the poll with 22 votes; Pat Geyer placed second with 16 votes and Andrew Sheridan placed third with 15 votes. Fourth place went to Pat Morton with nine votes and fifth place to Al Robinson with seven votes.

For more on the event, see the Oct. 28 edition of The Islander.

The real voting will take place on Nov. 3 in the three cities.
